Tidbit #1: Banned Alice

The original children's story, Alice in Wonderland, used to be banned in parts of China thanks to General Ho Chien. In 1931, General Chien stated that "Rabbits, rats and other beasts cannot use human language. To attribute them such a power is an insult to the human race." 

Tidbit #2: Strawberry and Care Bear Debut

Before Strawberry Shortcake and the Care Bears were seen in children's books, on TV and in Happy Meals, they were initally created for greeting card motifs. 

Pokemon Problems

In 1997, six hundred and eighty five children in Japan were admitted to the hosptial after they reported reading an intense Pokemon book that caused dizziness, vomiting and seizures.
