English went well again today, we worked right up until the
bell. We talked about Clerihew poems and
Diamante poems. In class we wrote a poem
about Justin Bieber and then a diamante poem about Bricks and Feathers. The students did a great job volunteering
information for the poems. I had to
prompt students to take notes on the two types of poems but once prompted they
worked. One students struggled today
with being attentive so I felt like I was continually walking over to him but
we worked through it.
The students
worked in groups to write two additional poems.
I was worried the groups would get off task but they surprised me. They wrote great poems and they volunteered
to read them in front of the class. I
know they are not thrilled about the poetry unit but they are still giving a
good effort. I look forward to reading
the poems they wrote tonight!
