Today
went great again. I have new student’s everyday so I’m finding that I am
reteaching the same concept every day. This is really fun though because it
really gives me a chance to figure out students ability levels and if I were
going to be there long term I would know exactly who needs what instruction.
The
first day I taught the students really did not understand the concept of
syllables but I have refined the way I taught it and the students have caught
on so quickly! I even had a student correctly identify how syllables were in
the word octopus all on his own, I was amazed. I am also learning that some of
the students are pretty advanced in the reading and spelling, while others are
at a very basic level. As a kindergarten teacher I can imagine that this would
be a constant struggle as you want to move everyone along together but it is
just impossible to do.
I
am making so many mental notes that will help me as I continue to learn how to
be a teacher.
