REFLECTION & REVISION (This part is to be included in your daily reflections after teaching the lesson. How did I feel about my lesson today? If I feel successful, what did I see the students saying and doing that made me feel that way? What changes to tomorrow’s lesson need to be made as a result of today’s class):
Today's lesson went pretty well. All the students are starting to look forward to seeing me during Daily Five time. What we did today, was that we brainstormed to figure out the story that we were going to write with the different aspects of a folktale. The students liked brainstorming for their story because it was their own. We went around in the circle brainstorming ideas. Then we went and voted on all the different ideas. The last step was to figure out the events of our story. This took up the whole fifteen minutes I had to work with each group. I told them that they needed to think about what they were going to write for the next day. The students are really excited to come in tomorrow.
There were only a few things I would do to change this lesson. One thing I would do is to use a timer in order for students to respond quickly. The brainstorming took up a lot time. Another thing I would change is have a sheet in which the students could do for homework in order to make the writing process go faster. I have a feeling that tomorrow is going to take a lot of time. If anything, time is the thing that is holding us back from having a successful lesson tomorrow.
